Amherst, Massachusetts: This construction was part of a series of projects around the UMass Amherst campus. They are on buildings or property owned by the university, including the Computer Science building, Recreation Center, Champions Center, and Mullins Center arena parking in Lot 25. The total size of the four PV systems is approximately 2.565 mW. The system design was based on the utilization of 1,000 V-DC, three phase string inverters. As the electrical contractor, the scope included installation of the entire PV system and necessary medium voltage work, and site/civil work to provide a fully functional system.

  • UMass Champions Center: a 250.11 kW system, the site was a flat roof installation consisting of racking and ballasting to support 794 modules that are 315 W, and six string inverters.
  • UMass Computer Science: a 154.67 kW system, the site was a flat roof installation consisting of racking and ballasting to support 491 modules that are 315 W, and four string inverters.
  • UMass Recreation Center: a 241.92 kW system, the site was a flat roof installation consisting of racking and ballasting to support 768 modules that are 315 W, and seven string inverters.
  • UMass Lot 25: a 1.92 mW system on a total of 15 solar parking canopies (car ports) that were added to the arena’s existing parking lot. The equipment that these canopy structures support is 5,256 modules that are 315 W, and 41 string inverters.
