Historic station now has a modern electrical service, current fire alarm system and a radio repeater system.
To renovate the century-old station that had lain vacant for over 30 years.
In May 2015, M. L. Schmitt was chosen as the electrical subcontractor for the area’s long-awaited Union Station renovation project.
We ensured that every inch of wire was replaced and gave the historic building some modern touches. While the light fixtures hadn’t been lit for decades, we took some of the existing fixtures and had them refurbished with new internal wiring while retaining the old charm. The building now has a modern electrical service, a fire alarm system installed to today’s codes, and a radio repeater system to insure that two-way radios used by first responders will work in a case of an emergency anywhere in the building.
